INTRODUCTION

The Bidirectional Absorbable Cone Sutures (BACS) is a world wide confirmed procedure for the face and neck rejuvenation. After five years more than 180.000 patients are treated around the world by doctors with a high level of patient satisfaction. The Poly-L-Lactic-Acid bidirectional threads with cones brings together all the big advantages of a no-surgical device: total absorption in two years, results immediately visible, no pain during the procedure and no downtime.

MATERIAL AND METHODS

The procedure to insert the BACS is performed without surgery, under local anesthesia with a similar technique as in the case of a deep filler. After antiseptic procedure of the skin, the local anesthesia is injected in the entry and exit points only. 1.5 cc of anesthetic solution is enough for each thread. With a 18G intramuscular needle we create the entry point in the middle of the path and we introduce the first half of the suture in the subcutaneous tissue. From the same entry point we introduce the second half of the suture in opposite direction. Once all the threads are inserted we proceed with the fat compression to achieve the result. The treatment ends trimming the external portion of the thread.

RESULTS

The anchorage of cones in adipose tissue - while waiting for the production of fibrosis which will make the cones no longer necessary - has been proven to be an efficient support system for soft tissues. This method also fulfills patients’ requests focusing on face sagging, by means of fast techniques which are painless and do not require a post-operative period longer than that of a filler. During the lecture the Author will present the application technique, together with its indications and results, in Face, Neck and Eyebrow.

CONCLUSION

Doctors’ growing demand to use less and less invasive systems has stimulated the development of the Bidirectional Absorbable Cones Suture, which is totally absorbable and does not require surgery for its application.

The non-surgical anti aging facial procedure, together with fillers, botulinum toxin and revitalizing or stimulating treatments, is now enhanced with bidirectional sutures to  correct the tissue sagging.
